NHL Analyst Mike Milbury Charged With Assaulting 12-Year-Old
Tough guy Michael Milbury, the current NBC/NESN/HNIC analyst who is "famous" for hitting a Rangers fan with his own shoe, is being charged with one count of assault and battery on a 12-year-old youth hockey player, one count of threats to commit a crime, and disorderly conduct. The Boston Herald has the alleged details:
The incident allegedly occurred at the end of the Winter Classic between the Boch Blazers for whom Milbury coaches and his son plays forward vs. the Boston Junior Black Hawks. It is alleged that after Milbury’s son and a player for the Black Hawks got into a scrape on the ice, Milbury charged out onto the rink and verbally berated and grabbed and shook the 12-year-old opposing player.
I mean, Milbury's heart had to be racing, his mind on his son's survival. TOTALLY REASONABLE. Now, we're left with a "smug" 12-year-old "who has become a bit of celebrity because he got shaken and just barely stirred. He should let it go. He likely won't."
UPDATE: NBC has pulled Milbury off the air while he deals with his "affairs." No word on the other gigs.

I have to to say this from a Canadian stand point, they had better coverage on our Canadian channels than they did on the US Networks. Sportsnet covered the News Conference and they actually have done some will written articles that have seen the light of day on big newspapers and websites.
you do have to give credit to the multiple espn and abc reporters in the thick of the riots last night interviewing students and calling on the phone from the middle. video would have been great, but those journalists did a fantastic job.
CNN's coverage (even though their anchor wasn't good) was way ahead of where the "World Wide Leader's" was last night.
@awfulannouncing I couldn't disagree more about @CNN. Aside from the Brit asking when the next game was, they killed it with their coverage.
The biggest disappointment was VERSUS/NBC Sports Network not jumping into the coverage. This was the perfect opportunity to get some recognition and start building the sports news platform for the network. ESPN was showing video footage from Comcast Sports Net which is under the NBC Sports Umbrella. Really dropped the ball there.
As a journalist, I can tell you the inappropriate questions at the news conference is not the media's fault, it's the fault of whoever was running the press conference for letting them in and not organizing the questions. And let me tell you, it really pisses the mainstream press off.
No offense guys, but before you start bashing everyone else, you might want to do a little work on yourselves. "Severally? I think you meant severely. "There of?" My guess is you meant thereof. "Maybe O.J. Simpson perhaps?" Perhaps a little redundant? "We're not going to dive into any of those stories but rather comment on a pretty poor job..." Next time try "Rather than dive into those stories, we're going to comment on the poor job..." And so on...
Don't get me wrong, I love your site, but that story reads like it was written by an eighth grader.

The Big Ten Network is the propaganda arm of the conference. It's not surprising that the network would downplay a very unflattering story.
What's with CNN's late night anchors? I remember some foreign lady happened to be on when the tsunami hit Japan and was really bad.
Well, pretty much all the news outlets sucked tonight, as evidenced by this article. But ESPN sucks the most.
