Real Tweets From Real People - Dick Stockton

The coverage of postseason baseball on TBS has seen some improvements this year.  John Smoltz has been a standout analyst with his ability to predict the future and quote Dumb & Dumber.  Talented play by play men like Brian Anderson and Victor Rojas are getting a chance to shine on the national stage.  Joe Simpson and Bob Brenly are solid analysts as well.  However, there are still some elements of TBS's MLB coverage that leaves viewers with a massive headache.  Their astonishing ability to ram one annoying thing down your throat is truly mystifying.  Now, WRITTEN IN THE STARS can join Frank TV and Dane Cook in MLB postseason infamy.  However, it is the announcing assignment of Dick Stockton that has perhaps drawn the most ire from fans.  Stockton was once a top announcer.  Nobody questions that fact.  However, it's 2011 and not 1986.  Dick Stockton just doesn't have a clue anymore, as noted by scores of observant fans on Twitter.  The good news for me personally is Dick will also be announcing this week's Saints game.  Happy, happy, joy, joy.  As always, these are Real Tweets from Real People...

whygavs  "The Phillies squeeze in a run here. Not with a squeeze, but with a pitch getting away." Dick Stockton, everyone.

Simmons had said his abandonment of the Bruins had to do with their ownership, leading him to give up on the team and hockey in general. But the Bruins haven't changed hands - the big change was in management and the economics of the sport. He didn't jump in when those changes happened, he did it when they made an exciting Cup run. That's what makes it bandwagon.

As a Royals fan, I have suffered through a lot of bad ownership, bad management and bad baseball, so I respect any Bruins fan who stuck it out. I have enjoyed Simmons ' work, but I think his 2001 self would be all over his 2011 self for this.

@jjhochunk I'm largely a fan of Simmons as well, but the Days of Y'Orr guys really nailed this. Yea, a misplaced tweet is cute and good for a laugh, but it brings to light his bandwagonness in relation to the Bruins. For someone that built an empire on being the Boston Sports Guy, it's something worth pointing out.

While we're correcting factual errors, Brad Marchand would be surprised that this tattoo has been moved from his side to his arm.

This is a lot of words over a mistake that was corrected with 10 minutes.

@KevinO'Keefe <--- Doesn't get it.

It's not the typo that matters. It's the fact that the guy makes his living off being a Boston Sports Fan but completely snubbed his nose at the Bruins. Then, when the Bs were on the verge of winning a championship, jumped on the Bs bandwagon. And when he's damned bandwagon fans in his own columns, he comes off as extremely hypocritical.

What it boils down to is that Boston hates his phoney Bruins Hockey Sports Fan nature. He's a fake. A fraud. He should really stick to just basketball, football and baseball. Every time he tries to be hockey guy he comes off looking like a dumbass because every time he makes a very basic mistake that no fan (or even reporter) should make (like getting players name first name wrong). His credibility among Bruins hockey fans is in the shitter.

Credibility is the issue, not his typographical errors.
