Real Madrid all but clinched their first La Liga title since 2008 with a 2-1 victory over Barcelona in El Clasico. Real moved seven points clear of Barcelona at the top of the table with only four games remaining in the league. It was the first league victory in El Clasico for Real Madrid in eight games, dating back to when they last won the league in 2008 and only the second victory for Jose Mourinho since he took charge in 2010. The indomitable Ray Hudson of GolTV was there for the occasion, here's the transcripts of his best calls, including Cristiano Ronaldo's game winner in the 73rd minute...
1-0 Khedira Goal (2:00)
"Ay!... Goal!... they're molten celebrations now from the Madridistas in stunned Camp Nou looks on. A collection of errors. Carlos Puyol has the ball locked between his legs, in between his feet, and cannot shift it, doesn't get it here. Wonderfully won by Pepe. Valdes, perhaps should have had it pulled in once it goes to ground... it's just unfortunate between the captain and his goalkeeper. It falls right between the devil and the deep blue sea and Khedira says thank you very much. First blood to Los Blancos.
Xavi miss (3:38)
"OOOHHH... GENIUS BEYOND BELIEF FROM LIONEL MESSI... take a look at this and drop your jaws to the ground. Amazing from Lionel Messi on the run between three players, slips it in beautifully, should have been a corner. I don't believe Xavi appealed for that one even, but that should have been a goal."
Tello miss (4:40)
"THERE IT IS... AAAAHHHHH!!!!"
1-1 Sanchez (5:31)
"Oh, magic... brilliant... AH!... WOOHH... AH!... astonishing, wonderful buildup. Iker Casillas does everything he can spreading himself like a big yellow octopus to keep them out, but on and on they came and it's that man, man, I told you, danger in the Chilean. Alexis Sanchez totally like a shark and he dives in here. Wonderful buildup by the artful dodger Messi, backheel by Iniesta, Tello slapshots it, wonderful followup from Adriano, Sergio Ramos cannot get it out of dodge."
2-1 Ronaldo (6:33)
"GREAT BALL IN, HE'S ON... DEADLY FROM DARTH VADER!! The dark invader they call him, well this one is a DEATH RAY HIT from Real Madrid's glamour boy. It's a fabulous ball to find him again. When we see this again it's steered into him, it's curled into his stride and he ain't ever gonna miss this, even against Victor Valdes. Look at this ball, guess who it's from (Ozil). Wonderful Avatar eyes finds the dark invader who is in like a cat burglar behind the defense. He knows the goal posts ain't movin and he tells them be quiet, I'm runnin this show now, baby! What a game!"
"Big celebration days and they'll be some major hoochie gucci going on in the bedrooms of Madrid tonight!"
Man made a career on point out racism & skewering stereotypes makes cheap, lazy joke using a racial stereotype. True irony or unfortunate coincidence?
I don't know how Whitlock still has a job. All he ever does is say racist things or accuse other people of racism.
Whitlock is a Fox token so he is aligning himself with money, not ideals anyway. Whitlock is representative of minority who can only sees racism against themselves; rather than a perpetrator. Such a shame that we can discount his remarks as lighthearted joking rather than denigrating and obscene. Yes, you superior folks get to easily quip "why so sensitive?" don't have kids who have had to fake laugh when peers "joke around" with them by sing song "heh chee chong" being called "chink; slant eye or eggroll". Asian females are relegated to "5 dolla " whores and Asian men are eunuchs or Kung Fu masters. We don't exist in American culture except as a caricature. So, yeah, I think Asians can be offended by this offensive little man.
That apology was clearly not his idea. If it was, it wouldn't be on Foxsports.com and just his twitlonger page. I'll thank Fox for making the apology. Whitlock doesn't give a shit.
So, apparently Whitlock has "issued" an "apology".
http://www.twitlonger.com/show/fs694f. Blaming it on his Mom and Richard Pryor, or something. A comedic nature? Who knew?
He cracked an Asian joke that we all have cracked one time or another. When did American become so full of sensitive little wusses that want people fired the minute they say something that isn't perfectly politically correct? I guarantee you Jeremy Lin heard worse from his pals at Harvard. And by the way, the Rush Limbaugh analogy=epic fail. I expect better from this site than you not letting the facts get in the way of your opinion.
Has Fox commented yet? In this day and age of the 24 hour news cycle, I'm a bit taken aback they haven't felt the need to do the PR two step dance
I know many who dislike Whitlock. Before this point, I've been neutral on him because I don't read his stuff. While I will continue that policy of not reading his stuff, I've changed my opinion on him. He should be fired. Immediately. This is so absolutely unacceptable there is no alternative.
@jay_jaffe wow, I must've missed that. I'm a fan of Whitlock, but that was unnecessary
unlike tebow, lin is good. tebow had the benefit of a mostly white, male, sports media behind him.
not much of the press is asian, thus this reaction is genuine.
as for jason whitlock, he lost credibility a long time ago when he said serena williams was out of shape and needed to concentrate on tennis. this fat man was calling one of the greatest tennis players ever out of shape. after he wrote that column, she subsequently won three more majors.
This is no doubt ground for termination. I doubt Fox does anything. They're a joke of a media company.
@EthanJSkolnick amen. Whitlock crossed the line. Why can't people let a feel good story about sports be about sports?
Hahahaha wow Whitlock... never ceases to amaze. Never ceases to epic fail at life. Idiot. Jason is definitely not #LINNING.
@HerbieTeope -> Unbelievable!!!
@MJ4Sports Member black ppl can say all kindes of shit not wight ppl you no that !!!
@EthanJSkolnick I mean lin...and yes, nothing worse than assuming, there's NO proof at all...maybe he was out w a buddy, talkin bout him etc
@EthanJSkolnick so we r all ASSUMING he was referring to Link in that fashion??? Tweet coulda been bout ANYTHING
@MJ4Sports Whitlock is a bully because he knows he's untouchable #RepressiveTolerance
@MJ4Sports not really surprising coming from Whitlock...he plays the race card a lot, but obviously believes only whites are racist.
@Mllea I love it! You racially slur Whitlock to express your outrage at his racism. Nice!
@djslybri The problem with djslybri is he is racist himself, but subscribes to a double standard and doesn't think anything said about asians is considered racist. It's his safe race to poke fun at since he can't be racist towards any other race.
That's why he thinks the Rush Limbaugh analogy is an "epic fail" when Whitlock's insinuation was beyond politically incorrect; it was dehumanizing. Making a tactless sociological observation, or behavioral or cultural stereotype is one thing, but singling out a race as physically inferior and then laughing it off as a joke just is totally uncalled for.
If what djslybri is saying is true then since when did people become so hateful towards asians? Racism against asians was not this bad in the 90s, and I would remember. Racism is supposed to erode over time and yet for asians it's probably peaked sometime in the 21st century. I hope things are getting better, but imagine if the tables were turned and djslybri said "he cracked a black joke we all have cracked on time or another." I highly doubt even half of us have "cracked" a racist joke against black people. The baffling nature of such a statement makes the double standard even more obvious.
@djslybri Being a racist is never ok. But besides that, it is incredibly hypocritical from Whitlock who frequently laments the treatments of blacks. If anyone were to make a similar style joke about black people he would go crazy.
@djslybri what? It's okay to be racist as a media personality because Lin probably heard worst at Harvard? Terrible logic as nobody would have to be accountable for anything.
@djslybri "He cracked an Asian joke that we all have cracked one time or another."
A lot of Asian Americans (myself included) are a bit sensitive to racially-charged jokes because we're still a disproportionally underrepresented minority in this country. I'm usually cool with most jokes, even ones that are a little off-color, but when it comes to jokes about my ethnicity/race it's a little different. There are some deeply-embedded stereotypes about Asians/AA people in this country and these "jokes" just keep perpetuating them. People who grew up around AAs know that a lot of stereotypes aren't true, but for people who haven't grown up in areas with a sizable AA community, they buy into the stereotypes and keep spreading them too. It's a vicious, endless cycle. And it doesn't help that a national sports commentator make a stupid joke like this (that many people subsequently retweeted).
@PackerFan he's straddled the line for quite awhile but not he's way way way past it.
Fox is a joke if they don't action
@mistake by the lake Concur. they definitely won't do anything.
@CaptTouchback -- Read my Tweet log ... it's easy to follow.
@greendude I'd bet dollars to doughnuts you have no idea what Limbaugh actually said without looking it up. You've been told that Limbaugh is a racist and what he said about McNabb was racist. What Limbaugh actually said was that the media was desirous that a black quarterback do well as a result that weren't hard on him. Anyone that read the Philly papers, watch the Philly media, and even paid attention to the national media back then knew how true it was. I can't remember how many times I read articles that hinted those people that booed McNabb at the draft (30 drunken dopes that were bussed up by a sports talk station) were doing so out of racism. They never let the truth, that they wanted the Eagles to draft Ricky Williams, to get in the way of their preferred story that it was racism against poor McNabb. Go watch the Limbaugh ESPN video. Tom Jackson is sitting right there and thinks nothing of it. It was only 2 days later, when he was told by his Rush-hating pals that it was racist did he all of a sudden start complaining.
What Whitlock did and what Limbaugh did are totally different. Sorry I am not in the P.C. majority and sorry I do my own thinking,. I'll try to be more comformist like you guys next time.
And to answer your question, white liberals became hateful towards Asians when they became too much competition for the spots in the Ivy League, Berkeley, and Stanford.
@greendude@djslybri Did you mean to say that he is NOT a racist himself? Either way, I'm not going to resort to personal attacks. But I will say this: You make a good point about Whitlock's comment. It's more than just a racist joke. It goes beyond that. It is dehumanizing. Again, the man should be fired.
@solashin@djslybri Oh stop it and lighten up. I have pals in South Korea and Japan that I went to college with and have flown half way around the world to visit them. When I played poker and drank with them they told some whitey jokes that clearly they didn't make up on the spot. If you want to complain about real racism towards your community, you need to start looking at white liberals who purposely keep your people out of elite colleges because too many of you are just too damn smart and achieve too much. That is real racism against AAs.
