Chris Rose adds NFL Network to MLB Network duties

Written by Joe Lucia on .

MLB Network host Chris Rose is adding another employer to his cap: the NFL Network. Rose will serve as a studio host for the channel, hosting the Sunday night Gameday Highlights and Gameday Final shows, as well as NFL Total Access on Thursday nights after the Thursday Night Football game. Rose is already hosting Intentional Talk on MLB Network, and is listed in a press release as a former host for Fox Sports, potentially signifying that his time hosting studio shows and doing play-by-play for them is over. Nevertheless, Rose will now work for two league networks simultaneously.

Rose will host Gameday Highilghts on Sunday at 7:30 PM along with Steve Mariucci and Deion Sanders, and will be joined on Sunday evenings at 11:30 PM on Gameday Final with Sanders, Marshall Faulk, and Michael Irvin. Considering how "interesting" the dynamic between Rose and Kevin Millar is on Intentional Talk, he might be better served with actual analysts on NFL Network. Sanders and Irvin both have loud personalities like Millar, but in a group setting, Rose might be able to temper them more instead of letting them run roughshod over the show.

This creates an interesting dynamic for the future. With NFL Network, Rose is actually doing something... well, significant, although he's really only going to be working two days of the week. With MLB Network, he's on-air five days a week, but the show is generally a mess of epic proportions that's barely watchable. If Rose wants to be taken more seriously, the NFL Network gig will serve him much better than MLB Network.

I have a question, will anyone be replacing Chris Rose on Intentional talk on MLB Network, on the Thursday that he will be working NFL Total Access on the NFL Network???

Because remember most MLB Network programming originates from Seacasus, N.J. and most NFL Network programming originates from Los Angeles, California!!!

@CUbsfan Except for one week each month where Rose and Millar both fly to Secaucus to do the show in studio, Rose does Intentional Talk from his home in Los Angeles, as pictured above. It might be possible to do the show at home before heading into NFL Network, but if they make him start earlier in the day at NFLN, then I guess he would miss Thursdays on Intentional Talk.

Rose certainly won't be flying to Secaucus to do Intentional Talk after the NFL season starts, though. He'll be in LA from here on out.

Springrubber thanks for telling me that, becausi didn't know that Chris Rose dd Intentional Talk from his house and i know that the NFL Network Thursday Night Pregame show starts at 6 ET too!!! That is why i have a feeling that Chris Rose won't be able to do Intentional Talk on Thursday during the NFL season!!!

@CUbsfan According to the article, Rose is only hosting NFL Total Access after the Thursday night games. Someone else is handling the pre-game show. Does anyone know if NFL Network is doing their pregame, halftime, and postgame shows live from the game site every week? If so, it would probably be Rich Eisen hosting these shows.

Apparently Rose has been gone from Fox for a while now. I first noticed it during the All-Star break; even though Rose was there, he was only involved in the MLB Network programming and did not appear on Fox at all despite the partnership between the two networks; Fox used Buck and Vasgersian as the on-site studio hosts instead.

Rose may have left Fox right after the MLB Postseason last year or maybe after the NFL season. I certainly can't remember seeing him on Fox at any point after late 2011.

Maybe he'll actually become watchable in this new gig, because he's brutal.
