NBC Sports Radio Network makes first hires

Written by Dave Kelsey on .

The new NBC Sports Radio Network is planning a September launch as the newest member of the NBC Sports Group. This week, NBC and partners Dial Global announced the first two personalities for the network - Erik Kuselias and John Stashower (above). This comes on the heels of CBS announcing Doug Gottlieb as a host for its own sports radio networ, launching in January.

Kuselias has plenty of talk experience with his hosting role at "Morning Drive" on the Golf Channel.  Before Golf Channel and his current role at NBC Sports Talk, Kuselias had been at ESPN Radio for over six years. He hosted “The Erik Kuselias Show” on ESPN Radio and was often used for fill-in duty. “The Erik Kuselias Show” on NBC Sports Radio will air from 7 to 10 p.m. weekdays beginning Tuesday, Sept. 4. It's unclear how this effects his role on NBC Sports Talk or whether this is just another quick move for someone who hasn't stayed in the same place for very long recently.

"Stash" spent the past 19 years as an update anchor and host at ESPN and is generally well liked by radio audiences. On NBC Radio Sports, he will be the new anchor for "NBC Radio Sports updates" weekdays from 6 to 11 a.m. It's an interesting start for NBC taking one of ESPN's most recognizable update men and one of thier own recognizable TV hosts to build their radio network. Even though it may take a while to get off the ground, it shows they're definitely serious about it succeeding.

Good Luck to all !    Would any of the new host be interested in interviewing " THE WORLD'S YOUNGEST PRO BASEBALL PLAYER,  AUTHOR of, "FROM BATBOY 2 THE HALL OF FAME," for black history month?  Joe Louis Reliford's last inning catch as a 12 year old Batboy, is on display in Cooperstown, for a reason.    240-355-1236

Not a fan of Erik though it my be from his willingness to fill any open spot that came up last minute at the Mothership. Mmaybe he can be his own person rather than being an espn Schiller about what is coming up next ILOVED Stash and wished they use him more as host and not as much updates. Guys like him you feel you can trust and I think that is very admirable trait fi have. Good luck Stash! I'm rootin for you!!!
