Rick Sutcliffe wants Melky Cabrera to be deported

Written by Joe Lucia on .

I'm sure most sports fans have heard of the Melky Cabrera steroid suspension and the resulting controversy with Cabrera creating a fake website in an attempt to claim innocence. ESPN's Rick Sutcliffe went on ESPN Radio in New York on Monday, and actually called for Cabrera to be *deported* from the country for "breaking the law." Of course, he hasn't been charged with a crime as of yet, just a suspension from the league.

What the hell? Deported? Doesn't that seem a little extreme? I have never heard of calls for a player to be deported for PED usage from anyone covering any sport. Yet, Sutcliffe isn't just content with Cabrera suspended, or banned from MLB, but wants him kicked out of the country!?!? Give me a break. The only chance of Melky Cabrera being deported any time soon is if Rick Sutcliffe wants to do the job himself.

If he's guilty, then, yes, he can be deported under our immigration laws.  He would have committed a crime or moral turpitude.  Sutcliffe's mistake is assuming he's already been convicted.  But he's probably not much of a fan of due process anyway.

Taking a wild guess that Sutcliffe isn't an Obama supporter
