Josh Duhamel is no fan of Merril Hoge and his Tim Tebow bashing
Taking sides on Tim Tebow has turned into the great cottage industry of the sports media. While some have made quite a career out of blindly and ignorantly staking what little integrity was left of their own career driving the Tebow bandwagon (see: Bayless, Skip), others have attempted to take the opposite flank in hopes of making a similar name for themselves.
ESPN NFL analyst Merril Hoge has been the loudest and most vociferous Tebow basher in Bristol over the last couple years, but he thankfully hasn't been rewarded with the international infamy of his ESPN counterpart, Skip Bayless. (Evidently there's only room for one ESPNer to make a career out of TebowMania.)
Hoge has criticized Tebow for everything from his running and passing to which side of the bed he gets out of in the morning. Most recently Hoge took his attacks down to a personal level, because criticizing Tebow's non-existent play on the field just wasn't getting the job done anymore. Hoge called Tebow as "phony as a three dollar bill" this week because of WildcatGate, which created another controversy filled Tebow news cycle for ESPN, or as the folks in Bristol call it - nirvana. Whether or not Tebow quit on the Jets or the Jets quit on Tebow, the media can't quit on either.
Hoge's "analysis" when it comes to Tebow is nothing short of the promo a professional wrestling villain cuts to try to get the home crowd to boo him. He's *this close* to calling Tebow supporters fat, out of shape, inner city sweat hogs.
Sticking up for Tim Tebow isn't the most popular position to take at the moment. However, one brave man has finally seen enough and decided to stand up to Merril Hoge and his repeated bashing of the Jets third string quarterback. That man is...

The best part about this tweet isn't Josh Duhamel cussing out Merril Hoge. It isn't even Duhamel shoving it in Hoge's face that Tebow was and always will be 10 times the player he was. It's the fact that Josh Duhamel feels the need to tell Merril Hoge it is in fact Josh Duhamel tweeting him. It's not like the @JoshDuhamel Twitter handle, name, picture, and fancypants blue checkmark wouldn't have given that away before. As if it would turn Merril Hoge's world upside down for anyone of note to actually notice what he says.
Where else but Twitter could a Hollywood actor curse out an ESPN analyst for his thoughts on Tim Tebow for all the world to see? God I love these times in which we live.

I agree Merril is unecessarily harsh when it comes to Tim Tebow but from what i read Merril has had like 10 concussions over his football career so you got to suspect that has a lot to do with his talking off the cuff sometime. Overall I like Merril but nevertheless he can tone it down a bit when it comes to Tebow and Tebow for his own good should spend the offseason with a real reputable qb coach and work on his mechanics and overall football skills if he wants to be in the NFL.
@wg9157 TRTebow needs to spend the summer at Columbia School of Broadcasting or some other institution that can teach him enunciation and pronunciation in order to further his next career: broadcasting. If he told the world he was thru with football today, by tomorrow he would have 10 job offers...if not more...for television and radio. Every broadcasting company out there has to be foaming at the mouth thinking about the ratings he would bring in whatever capacity they chose to use him.

Merril Hoge deserves every bit of bashing he is going to receive for his comments about Tim Tebow. If real sports fans weren't tired of hearing Hoge's horrible commentating before, I believe that they will be now. Don't attack another man's character unless he is in the same room as you, tough guy.

Who does Merril think he is? I dont even understand why he is on National TV! Every time i see his face and have to hear his annoying voice on ESPN, its gets on my damn nerves. No one has even heard of this guy, didnt accomplish shit in his career, and he is making comments on Tebow? He is just jealous of how famous Tim Tebow is and he wants some of the attention.

Chill out Bro cause the UF made TEbow , Case and point Chris Leak and Harvin Murphy and ,hernadez would drive the ball to the one Yard line only for the stupid ass coach that was tryiing to hype Tebow his freshman year would bring Tebow in to Run in a One yard TD , Chris leak is a capable qb he drove the team alll the way down to the One yard line why not let Chris or Harvin run it in they only did all the work to get down their , another case Harvin was the best player in the country and should of won the hesiman but No everytime harvin makes a big run down inside the 5 , they give it to Tebow so he gets all the praise . The UF made Tebow it was handed to him on a silver platter he didnt work for , Chris leak did all the work for Tebow to get all the praise , Im a Gator fan and didnt understand Y they would just bring him in for on play to get all the glory when you had players on the field to do the job , Why not wait til leak leaves before given Tim his chance that way you do take away from leak who did a great job running the team , that was bull the UF made Teblow !!!

@ECADE I've never once said that Tebow is some kind of quarterback god or something...My whole problem with Merril Hoge is that , here's a guy who had no career whatsoever and he's constantly bashing Tebow for no reason....if Merril would have said something along the lines of "Tebow can't be a an NFL caliber quarterback because......"...instead, Merril Hoge continues these personal attacks and bashing....if he honestly doesn't think that Tebow should be in the NFL, then fine, but for a nobody player like him to bash anybody is laughable.....and I'm a Fla. Gator fan, and I'll be the first to tell you that I don't think Tebow is or should be a starting quarterback in the NFL......he could potentially be better than he is if a team would put him with a good quarterback and qb coach....Elway should have told Tebow that he was going to get Peyton and that Tebow would be back to 2nd string.....Tebow most likely would have been okay with that and he'd get the chance to learn the position from a great Qb like Peyton Manning!...and maybe Elway could have given him some pointers?.......
@BradleyBowles @ECADE Actually, Hoge had a much better career than Tebow has had, or will have, NFL wise. Hoge started 85 games, ran for over 3,000 yards as a FB, had another 2,200 yards receiving, had 33 TD's and played in a Super Bowl. Try checking some facts before you guys go off the deep end.

Merril Hoge, you are revolting. Tim Tebow IS 10 x the player you ever were. What are you doing onnational tv? Who thought you were good enough to be on air? Someone should fire you now. You are a terrible sportscaster. Maybe doing the weather in some small dunk town would suit you better. You might not even be good enough for that.
Tebow is not even close to Merril as a Football player the UF made him he is all Hype , Thats why denver released him and thats Why the Jets will cut him he is terrible .
Wow, really? Because fullback really does turn the tide of any clutch moment of a football game. Man, when they block good, they really are a gamechanger. the Jets made a horrible business decision in signing a backup QB to a 3 yr, 2m/yr guaranteed gig, when they needed to spend that money on finally sending chonne 'straight-line' greene's horrible ass packing and get a real WR, not rookie kick retuners. Don't blame Tebow for poor conflicting decisions made by upper mgt, when clearly, Rex Ryan's toes wanted nothing to do with TT.
Wait till next year, when Tim is running the roll-out, zone-blocking scheme with MJD (the original ray rice). Shorts, Blackmon and Lewis are great posession guys, which is Tim's capacity for now. He should have went home to Jville the first time, but their mgt sucks too, BUT, since the jets mgt sucks worse, the Jags will get him at 20% the price. Faguars should thank the Yets big time.

@LudDirty @ECADE Tebow sucks. Hoge was average. These are facts. I can't stand Hoge, but I am at least objective, unlike you. Saying Tebow and his 14 career starts, and 7-7 record is "10 times better" than a guy with 85 starts, 5,000 yards from scrimmage, 35 TD's, and a Super Bowl start is just ridiculous.
