Video: Dan Patrick grills Tommy Tuberville
Former Texas Tech coach and new Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville has come under fire for reportedly leaving recruits at a dinner to take his new job. He didn't just leave as soon as he got the check, or excuse himself from the table... he left when the waitress brought out the food and never returned! Tuberville's dash-before-dining has become a symbolic story for the unforgiving nature of the college football coaching carousel.
Tuberville appeared on The Dan Patrick Show on Thursday and Patrick pressed the coach on those reports and college coaches in general being willing to not live up to their long term contracts as "hired guns." As the seconds tick by, Patrick becomes more and more fired up and Tuberville squirms more and more.
The entire interview is worth a listen because you don't hear tough, even uncomfortable interviews like this in sports these days...
Patrick may have gone a bit over the edge when he asked Tuberville, "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?" And, to Tuberville's credit, he hung in there and attempted to give some answers while avoiding putting his foot in his mouth or simply running away from the story. Overall, the tough interview was an interesting change of pace in a sports world that deifies instead of challenges college coaches.
There are a lot of things that can't be discussed and all you lame arm chair QB's that are spinning this to blame Tommy are just that guessing ..Maybe The AD didn't want him anymore maybe he wanted to go into a different direction with his own choice at HC Ifnthe contract was iron clad then he would still be there Blame the system don't blame Tommy
Tubberville is smarmy pond scum! Don't worry about Texas Tech, our players or our recruits. He did us all a huge favor. The Red Raider nation couldn't be happier. We definitely came out on the good end of this deal. It is like the lying, cheating, no good, loser boyfriend that dumps you so you are free to find the love of your life!
Dan was not looking for a story, he was asking the taugh questions and like always..Loser Tubberville had no answer but to try covering his butt. We in RedRaiderville are happier in his departure. He just couldn't hang with the Big 12...
Dan kept it real and I loved how he made it hard for Tubberloser to get out of this situation. He meaning Tubberloser was a loser when he came to us and he left a bigger one.
He lied when he came to Tech he continues even after he left....We are happier than we have been since he came to Tech. We are back and like the saying goes Swagger is back...

Actually, a good job by Tubberville. A candid conversation with Patrick doing a lot of philosophising. At the beginnin, if you really listen, it's Patrick seaching for a story where their really is none.
