Video: Track announcer calls impromptu deer race
Roger Huston, the track announcer at the Meadows Racetrack in Pennslyvania, had quite the experience recently when a "deer event" delayed a scheduled race. Showing quite the ability to think on his feet, Huston quickly transitions on the spot into a spirited race call between the lovable intruders, giving shoutouts to Bambi and Rudolph along the way. Of course, I would have loved to see the horses race the deer in an inter-mammalian competition of four legged beasts, but that would probably be frowned upon.
According to the announcer, Bambi was the eventual winner. Hopefully Huston's compatriot was joking about it being hunting season, too.
