I think it's a rather rough deal how he was kicked out of the building within 10-15 minutes after being fired.  He worked there for 28 years, he didn't do anything wrong... I think he deserved a modicum of respect for that.

 @Lee_Zy That is true.  Legally, the question is whether he was treated rudely or embarrassed.  Simply having someone leave immediately and making arrangements to have them obtain their property is standard to prevent sabotage.
