Hope Solo blasts former USA soccer star Brandi Chastain on Twitter
We have our first juicy feud of the London Olympics, and they involve two American athletes! Current US Soccer star Hope Solo and former US Soccer star Brandi Chastain just plain don't like each other. As far as the origins of the feud go, I'm not so sure, but it boiled over this afternoon on Twitter when the American GK fired a couple cannon shots at the hero of the 1999 World Cup and current NBC analyst. Solo called out Chastain for recent comments from her analyst's chair. It's appropriate that Solo's Twitter avatar is her getting ready to throw hands, because these are some haymakers...
Wow wow wee wow. Solo is no stranger to being outspoken and this isn't her first shot in the direction of Chastain. For that matter, Chastian hasn't shied away from criticizing Solo either. Regardless of who's involved, and these are two of America's biggest international stars mind you, these are some of the most biting comments you'll ever see an athlete publicly fire towards an announcer. Hope Solo isn't messing around here. We'll update if Chastain responds. Get the popcorn on standby.

The fact is i like them bothe but Brandi is wrong to be so critical of Hope and to say she only looks good because of her team mates and she know s it . She has ben trying to walk back he comments ever since Hope growled her. It would be easy to say that Brandi was only good in her time because she had MIA (THE MAGNIFICENT) who is the beat female ever to lace up some soccer shoes. Say what you will MIA made them and us all the best. Brandi therefore should be applauding the current team for maintaining their legacy there is no I in TEAM so Hope should be depending on her teammates to make her look good, that is why she is on a team. some more optimism from the commentary booth would be good i suspect that if jealousy is some where in the air. i dare remind all of us the Hope is undoubtedly the best Female GK in the world currently If someone don't agree please tell me who is? @ReWf Very true but that goes both ways although one would think Solo would have more important things on her mind at the moment. What she did just made her look petty and small (along with other things) and reflected badly on her and her team. Yes the same team she called out when she was left on the bench in the 2007 World Cup.
Broadcasters are supposed to be unbiased, despite what the infinitely clueless RebaKayCarlisleGurley may think/say. Just because Chastian is American doesnt mean she has to pump the American teams tires.

I wasnt arguing her right to do so - please show me where I did that? My thoughts were/are that A) As an Olympic athlete she should be a little more focused on things other than what a commentator that she obviously has issues with is saying and B) She had the chance to be the bigger person here and instead came off looking petty and self centered.
Im thinking you never played any sports on a high level because I can tell you that this kind of crap will NOT go over well with the people who run the team. Shes supposed to be thinking about Soccer. But of course shes just thinking about Hope.

Saw an interview with Solo on the David Letterman show - what an arrogant ass. All the hype over the last few years has definitely gone to her head. I wish Team USA the best but if they know whats good for them they'll keep Ms Solo away from twitter, facebook, announcers, reporters etc cause shes just making them look petty

It isn't hard to tell that the "big swede" has a crush on Solo, who is obviously aptly named, being completely self-centered. "Team" doesn't mean a thing to this shameless self-promoter, and arrogant and conceited to boot. She's on my top-ten most disliked athletes list. You didn't need to see how she managed to get everyone involved with DWTS to simply hate her guts by the time she was booted off to know that. You could also say that there was a racist element in her behavior toward Briana Scurry. Scurry had success in the past against the Brazilian team, yet it was Solo's pathetic, self-pitying behavior that effected the team's play that was the real reason why they lost. Solo is supposed to "represent the "best" in America? How about the worst?
@mwillyk The only mistake that she made back then with the Briana thing is that she spoke to the press about it but let's be honest. She was a better choice then and she is the best choice now. I like that Hope is not afraid to speak her mind specially when it comes to something that she has faught so hard for. Talk about whatever but she is the best Goal keeper in the world. I have played goal keeper and have coached several teams Hope is what we look for. Briana was good in 1999 but when it came to the last Olympics Hope was a better choice and it actually showed in results. All she said is that Brandi shouldn't be so negative with her comments and I agree with her at 100% o put my TV on mute because between the negativa comments and the confusion between Rampone and Rapinoe. I was done. I rather watch it in Spanish at least they can identify the players. My opinion put Julie or Mia to comment they were true commentators.
I want to Thank Agal51.. Winston, Holly & ManEating for constructive analysis based on the facts as they see it. It gave me an understanding of what led to this and now i have an opinion. It is so important for the country i have been born in and live in and want the best for to get people to Agree to Disagree Respectfully because when you get nasty it turns off many people and clouds your case.
I Love Soccer and wish more Americans did. It is the best game for most children growing up (even though i played and coached BB -close 2nd in US & Sweden) and i truly believe we as country would embrace it more as a National Passtime Sport. So on that basis i Say Go America and get the Gold (as long as you don't play Sweden-lol-i am a dual citizen so that it always tough) And your right Holly Good Sportsmanship does count and we need more of it on the field, in the anouncer booths and in the chat room.
