Once again, the NBA has lucked out with a battle of good versus evil in the NBA Finals. In one corner, the young, dynamic Oklahoma City Thunder. In the other corner, the personification of evil, LeBron James and the Miami Heat. Maybe the battle to decide this year's NBA Champion isn't that dramatic or life-altering, but you can bet ESPN will continue to promote these Finals in that vain.
To guide us through the Finals on TV, we'll be led by the professional and entertaining crew of Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy and Doris Burke. Credit to the NBA for avoiding bad TV nights like Friday and Saturday, sticking to a Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday schedule.
Can these Finals live up to the hype as neutral fans and ESPN execs are hoping? Will LeBron and Durant go head-to-head to begin a true rivalry in the tradition of Wilt and Russell and Bird and Magic? The questions will begin to be answered tonight.

This makes sense seeing as Gus Johnson doesn't really call the NFL anymore. What happened to Fox's plan to have him call ~4 NFL games last year? Didn't he only call one?
I am so sick of this whole "Gus Johnson is for the kids!" crap. Gus Johnson sucks, and Nantz and Simms call Super Bowls. I know which commentary crew will make the a random Madden game feel more momentous to me.
I don't care which broadcast team they have, just make them record more lines so by the 3rd game you play your not already hearing the same crap over and over. The fake Dan Stevens and Peter O'Keefe from 2k still sound the best, since they did a decent job going over storylines and team by team analysis. Also, having Jim Nantz record a pun for each team winning the Super Bowl could be stupid fun
Hey, anything is better than Gus Johnson going into hysterics when a team down by 4 touchdowns scores with 10 seconds left in the game.
Not a bad idea, but why not multiple announcing crews like NCAA Basketball 10 or the FIFA series? I'm shocked EA doesn't do that for Madden. This way you have good reason to add Nantz, but not get rid of Johnson. Gus Johnson is pretty solid too (and I might be understating it).
good riddance to bad rubbish.. hated hearing Collinsworth and Michaels.. most overrated pbp duo in NFL. not big on Nantz/Simms but they cant b ne worse on the game. Gus Johnson should do Madden by himself every yr
This is not good at all. Why have the worst broadcasting duo on the most popular video game? This might hurt sales of the game. Just a bad decision.
Why don't they have sideline comments from Matt Millen, too? Pile on the pablum. Simms runs off at the pie hole, and Nantz is the white man's Bran Gumbel.
My only explanation for this is that they are going to superimpose CBS graphics in the game, like they did ESPN for ncaa.
