Courtesy of Tonight’s Healthy Scratches, in what other sport can you see something like this three seconds into a professional game?!? Watch the video below, and you’ll see why hockey is awesome; as there’s no better way to start a game than with three simultaneous fights and blood flying all over the place:

That is how you announce an unexpected brawl on national television. You can hardly even notice Pierre McGuire.

Hated rivals the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils played the last of 3 tough games this season. And again per THS, Blueshirts coach John Tortorella made his displeasure with Devils bench boss Peter DeBoer known following the early-game fracas. Tortorella was seen on NBC Sports Network profanely screaming at DeBoer, suggesting he, um, kindly go back from whence he came. DeBoer wondered why it seemed to be the case that he was being criticized for doing the same thing Tortorella had done at the Prudential Center just days ago (courtesy of Peter Botte of The New York Daily News via Twitter):

“I guess in John’s world you can come into our building and start your tough guys, but we can’t do the same in here. He’s either got short term memory loss or he’s a hypocrite.”

Love the fighting or hate it, it’s something unique to the sport; which has the potential to make any given game on any given night a lot more interesting and exciting.
