I'd love to see the ladies at "While The Men Watch" try to describe Don Cherry's suit tonight. Even those hockey fans with a keen eye may struggle to put this floral collection into words. I must say though, with Memorial Day Weekend approaching here in the states, Cherry's suit puts me in quite a festive mood. Who would have thought a 78 year old man could find the perfect combination of lime green, gold, rose, and violet in a brightly colored flower suit? One must commend Don Cherry for his outlandish style of dress that disproves stereotypes put forth by CBC in alternate forums!
@greggdoyelcbs @awfulannouncing McDonald is late to the game. @ReillyRick has been on ignore list since calling @BoJackson a coward in 1985.
I've heard some negative comments on Norm Macdonald, but never have met the man. Love his humor.
I HAVE met Reilly and some of his cronies such as Bob Costas and consider them to be elitist group who have talent, but believe that talent puts them above the overall media, particularly newspaper writers. I would guess that he was annoyed by someone from "outside of sports" stepping on his turf.
Reilly is talented, no doubt. But I know many writers and broadcasters with as much talent and knowledge as Reilly who don't distance themselves from the "little people."
Costas falls in the same category. There isn't a humble bone between them.
Those in the comedy crowd who might feel the same about Macdonald, I don't know, but based on what I've seen, I'd side with him in the feud.

You're on it, Troug89. The joke is that there really was no racial insult at all from Reilley in the first place, but then suddenly everyone got in on it, and Norm coyly sat there fanning the flames by playing dumb and essentially saying "No...Rick Reilley is definitely NOT racist."
Reilley was once a great, great feature writer. At some point he decided he wanted to become a comedian. Tragically stupid move, akin to Michael Jordan playing baseball (but as if Jordan had never gone back to basketball and were still trying to play pro baseball today).
I think part of the joke is that it was such a relatively minor insult, and the response was outrageously disproportionate. Rick threw the first punch; Norm responded with an atom bomb. I don't have an opinion of of Rick Reilly, but I do enjoy Norm Mcdonald and I thought the whole incident was hilarious.
