The famed Mike Leach – Craig James war may have been limited to minor skirmishes recently, but there’s still definitely some tension there, as seen by Leach’s takedown of James during a Reddit Q+A Monday. Tuesday saw one of the funniest moments yet in the battle between the two, though, as a Twitter user named Nick Gustavson (protected account) tweeted the above photo of a signed copy of Leach’s book (with Bruce Feldman), Swing Your Sword.

In case you can’t read it, the inscription reads “To Nick, CJK5H, Mike Leach.” The CJK5H may be inscrutable to those who don’t closely follow college football blogs, but for those who do, it’s a pretty clear reference to “Craig James Killed Five Hookers”, the so-called “Google bomb” perpetrated by various college football types over the last few years (and even acknowledged by the James campaign). It’s possible Leach didn’t realize what Gustavson was actually asking for with this inscription, especially given how chaotic book signings often are, but it’s also at least plausible that the Dread Pirate Leach fully knew what he was being asked here and saw this as another way to take a shot at James.

Regardless, it makes for a highly entertaining inscription for those in the know, and one that will live in the annals of Internet sports lore. Now that’s a way to swing your sword.
