Lost amidst all the revelations from ESPN’s Upfront promotional day and a new batch of “30 for 30” documentaries, it was revealed an old friend of the WWL would be revisiting her former home.  Robin Roberts, who moved from ESPN to Good Morning America back in 2005, is coming back to ESPN to host an interview series focusing on impactful female athletes.  Here are some details from MediaBistro:

On Thursday, May 17, Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts will debut In the Game with Robin Roberts Presented by Lexus – a new series debuting across ESPN’s SportsCenter, espnW.com and ABCNews.com featuring exclusive interviews with accomplished female athletes. Jennie Finch will kick off the eight-episode program which is sponsored by Lexus. The series will air every Thursday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. ET during ESPN’s flagship program, SportsCenter. The series will launch with a robust digital and social media execution across espnW.com and ABCNews.com to drive tune in and viewer interaction. This marks the first dual network, cross platform project between ABC News and espnW.

It’s nice to see ESPN continue to make a committment to promoting women’s athletics and their ESPNW.com feature.  And of course, Robin Roberts will be a welcome sight to see back on SportsCenter.  Her time away from the network has certainly given her added gravitas, after all, she just got done interviewing President Obama.  Although, I guess Clark Kellogg can make that claim too, on multiple occasions no less.  Here’s hoping Roberts can provide candid interviews with the most important current and former females in sports.
