Atari Bigby gives a whole new way to do pregame intros

Written by Dave Kelsey on .

This assuredly must be a first, when it comes to NFL player introductions. Here's Atari Bigby of the San Diego Chargers giving his player introduction during Sunday Night Football on NBC:

As you can see, he introduced himself from "the University of Jah Rastafari." Now, and I'm not 100% dead certain, but I believe he's the first of his kind here. Knowing how the iron fist of Roger Goodell rules, I wouldn't be surprised if the Commish sends a "random" drug test or two his way in the near future. It sure beats guys saying they're from "The U" or "THE Ohio State University."

I think the players should be required to state their college during those intros instead of a high school or some other kind of wise-guy remark. Fines for those who don't.

I wondered about that intro getting some unwanted attention at the time.  He certainly comes across as a graduate with honors!  Also noticed that 2 of the 3 starters who went to the University of Tennessee did not mention UT but their h.s. or hometown.  Prompted a discussion that perhaps they need to be graduates to use the University but I don't think that's true ... think they just don't want to be associated with UT any more.  Feedback?

"Jah Rastafari High"? No, just Jah Rastafari.
