Your MLB announcing schedule for 9/4-9/9

Written by Ryan Yoder on .

The MLB season is winding down.  The Red Sox are swooning, and so are the Yankees.  At least we won't be subjected to the Red Sox four times this week like the Yankees.  Although, the Yanks' national games this week actually have huge playoff implications against the Rays and Orioles.  Really... the Orioles?  Are we sure about that?  Ok, if you say so.  Personally, I haven't checked the MLB standings since the Cubs were 4-3 in spring training.  FOX announcers are TBA while the Dodgers/Giants series sees the weekend spotlight on ESPN.

Brian Kenny is handling the studio duties today instead of the usual Greg Amsinger when Matt is calling a game.

Does anybody know why MLB Network showed MASN's instead of YES's coverage of today's Yankees at Orioles game ???

Especially since someone on this board told me that MLB Netork alwaus uses the YES Network feed, when they simulcast a Yankees game, no matter if the Yankees are the home or road team!!!

@CUbsfan I think the Orioles are getting a lot of love from MLB Network right about now because of how good they are this year. Plus, they also have a pretty good broadcast team, so bonus points there.

@Sa9273 My first reaction: "Who is Kevin Burkhardt?" Wikipedia answered my question for me, thankfully.

Does anybody know if Lou Pinella was a live game  analyst for any of  the Yankees series, other than the New York Yankees against the Tampa Bay Rays this year???

Also, does anybody know who filled in for Suzyn Waldman as the analyst for Yankees radio, during the series that Suzyn Waldman was an analyst for Yankees Baseball on the YES Network this year???

It's interesting that MLB Network is scaling back on their in-house produced game coverage here in September. Earlier in this season, they committed themselves to producing one game every week. Now in September, they're skipping this week as well as the week of the 17th. My guess is that since they're deciding last minute on which games to cover, they want to be able to have the flexibility of just showing the local broadcast of whatever teams they decide to show. They don't want to have to plan the logistics well in advance for where to send their live production crew. They want to be able to decide, "Hey, we're showing the Orioles tomorrow!" and be able to show that game rather than worrying about sending a live crew out there.

This will be the 11th game that Mark Mulder has been a 2nd analyst for, so far this season on ESPN, which means that Mark Mulder will be a 2nd analyst for most likely 13 MLB games on ESPN this year!!!

TBS has used David Wells mostly as a 2nd analyst and for 1 game as the only analyst so far, they have used Dennis Eckesley mostly as the only analyst and as 1 of 2 analysts ocasionally for the last 4 MLB Regular Seasons, but this will be the 1st time that TBS has ever ued Cal Ripken JR. as a live game analyst from the game site, does anybody else find it strange that the 1st game that he is working as an  analyst for, involves the team that he played for, for his whole career, the Baltimore Orioles at home against the New York Yankees???
