We've been all over the news of ESPN pulling out of League of Denial, the PBS Frontline special on concussions. But did PBS have a thought in the back of their minds that this would happen?
Check out the trailer for League of Denial, and pay special attention to the 1:50 mark and what the expert says:
Is that ominous or what? "You can't go against the NFL, They'll squash you." Sure enough, after Thursday night's news of ESPN pulling out of the documentary, a report surfaced claiming that the NFL pressured ESPN to pull out of the documentary. That comment seemed like a foreshadowing of what was going to come, and the trailer wasn't even released until after the news broke. At the very least, it's food for thought about ESPN's denials about the NFL's involvement in the matter.

@awfulannouncing that is craziness, and sounds like tobacco industry crushing science about danger of smoking
@gvtalk that's quite a trailer. Where is the damage done? Peewee? HS? College? Do we just ban football? Hell no. Life is all about risk.
Here's hoping this doc goes a long way towards changing the perception of the price one pays to play football from Jim Otto / Conrad Dobler hobbling around with broken bodies to Mike Webster / Jim McMahan destroyed by broken minds...oh, and way to go ESPN for giving the doc waaaay more publicity than it would have otherwise received...
@mikef3825 No,don't ban football,just watch to see how its presented...feed the knowledge bank.
@gvtalk gotcha. Good call, V.
