The Cincinnati Bengals are once again the featured team on Hard Knocks and although the series is still as good as ever, the repeat appearance has been met with a "meh" from the greater sports world. However, one new interesting character to the Bengals and Hard Knocks is surly linebacker James Harrison.
And James Harrison hates the Hard Knocks cameras just as much as he hates everyone and everything else.
In USA Today, Harrison provides a truly bizarre quote, speaking about why Hard Knocks didn't "deserve" to be inside an NFL training camp with the Bengals:
"I don't feel they deserve to be here. They did nothing to be here, other than want to be here," he said. "They didn't put no blood, sweat and tears into none of this. All these men in here, they did that. They (the cameras) did nothing. No one deserves to see this, to come inside of this unless you're a part of this. That's why."
IF YOU CUT A SOUND TECHNICIAN DOES HE NOT BLEED BLOOD?
By this insular NFL locker room logic of course they don't "deserve" to be there because it's not like they're competing for a spot on the 53 man roster. Unless one of the cameramen wants to attempt to be Cincinnati's new long snapper, of course. By that logic you could say reporters, fans, volunteers, and the janitorial staff don't "deserve" to be there and gain any access whatsoever. Of course, so many NFL locker rooms do that already, trying to lock out the outside world because of the sheer paranoia that exists in the league.
It's NFL training camp. Not some top secret global elite society like The Stonecutters. Lighten up, James.
