It's been a rough year for the Miami Marlins, but unlike last season, expectations weren't high for Miami coming into this season. In the eighth inning of Friday's Marlins-Braves game, Giancarlo Stanton tagged up to go to second base on a fly out by Justin Ruggiano. Stanton didn't slide into second, and was tagged out on the play.

Marlins color commentator Tommy Hutton, who forms one of the more underrated duos in the league with Rich Waltz, went absolutely nuclear on the Marlins star right fielder. Hutton was legitimately upset and yelling at Stanton for not sliding and snapping about that being the reason that teams lose close games.

Hutton has a point, as Stanton's failure to slide was costly and helped run the Marlins out of the inning. But man…talk about a bit of an overreaction to a silly mistake. I can't recall an announcer getting that upset and chiding a player over something so minimal. It's not as if fundamental baseball is the reason why the Marlins are in last place in the NL East this season. I think that the stress of Miami's disappointing past two seasons is starting to weigh heavily on Hutton's mind.
