Michelle Beadle's new show The Crossover replacing NBC Sports Talk

Written by Reva Friedel on .

Last month, we wrote about Michelle Beadle's new sport show, "The Crossover." We knew it was going to be a mix of sports and pop-culture, but we didn't know much else.

This week, NBC revealed who Beadle'e co-host will be: Dave Briggs, formerly of Fox News.

"The Crossover" premieres January 28 at 6p.m. in New Orleans, the site of the Super Bowl. It is interesting to note that the 6p.m. time slot puts her in direct competition with SportsCenter, and her old show SportsNation, which moved to 6 PM and now originates from Los Angeles. According to Steve Lepore, the show's 6 PM timeslot means NBC Sports Talk is going on hiatus, likley due to its abysmal ratings. The lack of NHL season till now has been brutal for NBC, and they are presumably trying to find ways to win back viewers.

It's not known when NBC Sports Talk might return, but you can expect Pro Football Talk to remain in the NBCSN lineup even after the NFL season ends.

But back to Beadle's show - can we talk about the promo video? Jose Canseco, Gary Busey, CARROT TOP? Is Dennis Rodman included so he can talk about his ten minute marriage to Carmen Electra? The promo is hilarious - all of them being spun around on a wheel by Briggs, looking as confused as ever (or in Canseco's case, as always).

Of the show, Beadle says (among other things),"...someone finally needs to address this Tim Tebow guy." An interesting and very not so subtle dig at her former employer, the "world wide leader," which year round features 24/7 coverage on whatever NFL team Tebow happens to be with that minute.

I am going to be honest with you - I never once watched NBC Sports Talk. Barely knew it existed. So it going on hiatus is probably not a bad thing. A new show with a new idea could be just what NBCSN needs to revitalize its programming.

It will be very interesting to see the kind of ratings Beadle's show brings in. I am intrigued enough to watch it once, but will it be good enough to watch daily? I guess we'll find out on January 28.

This woman is a loser. She obviously thinks she is Jenna Wolfe the second. She needs to go away fast. The Kentucky Derby is a class act and she is not. She is a shameful excuse for a host for any show. I will not watch anything she is a part of and as a network you need to get rid of her and her show. She must have a connection somewhere and you are shameless to keep her employed.

There is something so wrong here. This woman is a disgrace to sports. She is the Jenna Wolfe of sports shows. I will not watch her. She is a disgrace to the Kentucky Derby. It is a class act which obviously she is not. Get rid of her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just caught a few minutes of this show. I wont be watching again . This ignorant sorry excuse of a man says the NHL will never be what the NBA is because it lacks the superstars. Hey MORON have you ever heard of Sidney Crosby , Alex Ovechkin, Pavel Datsyuk , Patrick Kane , and Marian Gaborik just to name a few???  These super stars are making close to $10,000,000 each year , and selling out arenas every game they play ! You idiot! I can not stand people like this who have no clue about hockey . You have no right to host a sports show in America. This phony has probably never been to an NHL hockey game in his life. Learn about American sports and culture before you make a statement as dumb as that!  Then to add insult to injury they bring on some bald guy who is supposed to be a "sports expert" . He was another clueless creep who could not tell you what an offsides was in hockey if he tried.

Caught the last 10 minutes and won't be watching again. Michelle Beadle is an embarrassment to women. Poor Thierry Henry thinks he's on to discuss a serious topic, racism, and is asked about using a butt double like Beckham if he's ever offered an underwear commercial. Unprofessional to say the least. As a woman interested in sports, the is the last topic I would expect a serious anchor person to discuss. Can't imagine the fallout if Dave asked a female guest the same question. Get it together!

All i know is Michelle Beadle is a HUGE Bi#$h seen it first hand... I'd never give her show the time of day... People like her need to know that being mean to people or saying stuff behind their backs shouldnt warrant a prime time job...   Hope this shows goes no where and fast just like her career...

NBC Sports Talk needs a new host. Erik Kuselias is not doing it for me. And they have to stop pretending that weekends don't matter for sports talk shows. The leadership is being slow to respond to demand for sports-related content, including talk shows.

As for Beadle's new show, I bet it's going into obscurity, as with Costas' talk show. Cheap...I mean Comcast is not doing enough to promote these shows.

New show, but very much NOT a new idea, Reva.

I am disappointed that they are canning NBC Sports Talk, I enjoyed it, it felt like a complete 180 from Sports Center and had interesting conversation and nobody was shouting at one another.  I hope Sports Talk lives in some reincarnation, its a good smart show with good people.

I like Beadle but I am not as likely to tune into this show but I am probably in the minority on that one.
