Time to open up the notebook for this weekend. A few items to report on this second weekend of July.

With that, former ESPN'er Mike Hill bid adieu to Bristol, CT and said hello to Los Angeles. As Awful Announcing reported last month, Mike Hill left ESPN and is apparently on his way to Fox Sports. His tweet appears to confirm this move. Awful Announcing has learned that in addition to doing TV work for Fox, he'll have a show on Fox Sports Radio. The timeslot has yet to be determined.

Another Fox note, former Georgia Tech radio voice Wes Durham will be calling college football on television come August 31. Durham had called Georgia Tech football and basketball for 18 years and decided to move to television starting this season. He'll form a new team for ACC games on Fox Sports South and other Fox Sports Net affiliates within the ACC footprint. Durham will be teamed with former UFC fighter Brian Stann. Stann announced his retirement from UFC this week, You might think Stann is an odd choice, but he used to play football for the Naval Academy so he knows the sport. He also served a tour in Iraq in 2006. Durham and Stann will be joined by Jenn Hildreth on the sidelines. Durham will continue to call Atlanta Falcons games.

One regional sports network that will pick up the ACC football games for the first time this season will be YES Network in New York. Fox purchased a minority stake into YES just last year and the company is now using its reach to syndicate ACC football and basketball as well as new Big East games there. It gives YES some quality college sports in addition to the Brooklyn Nets in the winter months. YES through Fox Sports Net will air up to 10 ACC football games and 23 conference basketball games in addition to as many as 10 Big East contests.

Sometimes local news reporters go crazy when they have to cover bear stories in the hot sultry, summer. Throwing a flip-flop at the camera is sometimes indication of this.

That will close the notebook for now.
