This is a real thing that was "debated" on First Take this morning. Whether or not the San Antonio Spurs... in GAME 6 OF THE NBA FINALS... should rest their best players and concede victory in a game that could win them the NBA title. This is a thing Skip Bayless advocated San Antonio doing "if they could get away with it." Whatever that means.

The sad part of that question is that this website actually wasted the time to post about it. You gotta fit a 2-hour show with SOMETHING when all there is to talk about is the NBA Finals between them.
Up next on first take, with 2 games at home in the final 3, should the Blackhawks rest their starters in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals? (well, someone on First Take would have to actually know that hockey exists first...)
Every time you do a story like this I think, "Why the f*** do you watch that crap!?" Then I look at the name of the blog again and go, "Oh..yeah"
I couldnt sleep last night (First Take is on at 3am in Australia) and I saw 10 minutes of this god awful show for the first time. What I saw was just beyond Pathetic, they had some psuedo intellectual, someone Dyson I think his name was, and him and Stephen A went into a battle of who can use the most syllablees contest for 10 excruciating minutes. There is nothing worse than people trying to cover up for a lack of genuine insight or analysis by using unneccesarily long words in a desperate attempt to appear intelligent, and this Dyson character was just stunning in his sheer blow-hardiness.
Skips reactions were just priceless, you could just see how clever and intellectual they all had convinved themselves they were, it is just beyond pathetic. You know at University that annoying kid who always gets up and his tone of voice changes and he reaches for the Thesaurus in the middle of every sentence in a desperate attempt to sound like an intellectual but they only come across sounding completely pathetic. Well First Take is just basically an hour of 3 of those guys talking at each other.
And as for embrace debate, well a debate is when two side discuss an issue in an attempt to reach a higher level of understanding, it is not a debate when people talk AT each other and not too each other, it is just a drunken bar argument, with a sprinking of psuedo-intellectual try-hardishness.
My god that show is awful, it actually makes me genuinely angry that it exisits. Skip Bayless is the reason people hate America, and Stephen A Smith is a complete blowhard, but this Dyson character, somehow he ended up being worse than both of them. I am now genuinely angry just thinking back to last night, my god ESPN should be ashamed.
That network has no self-respect and no pride, it's all about the ratings and the brand with them. Then again, it also says a lot about how idiotic their audience actually is, people watch their crap, and copycat and plagiarize their own shows. What the hell is Bomani Jones now doing on the show with Dan Le Batard, they've retooled and managed to ruin the show. Personally, I'd rather watch Skip Bayless give Troy Aikman a rim job than watch even two seconds of "First Take."
"Hi, I'm Skip. What can I say today that would be so outlandish that nobody in their right mind would ever agree with it, and yet I can somehow attempt to make a convincing argument anyway?" This guy either can't believe 90% of what comes out of his mouth or is this just a complete moron.
the saddest part about this is that it is in no way surprising. By far the biggest farce on a network that has just fallen so far off in the last decade, but there is no competition so they can continue to stream out whatever bullshit that they want to.
well, it does make sense... I mean, ESPN thinks that the only chance for anyone to beat the Heat is for all the stars to align, everybody gets all their ducks in a row AND everybody brings their A+ game...
Completely agree. In what world do you not go for the jugular and try to clinch a championship. It's a similar mindset to the Nationals and Strasburg last October. It's not a perfect comparison but I think the analogy is there.
