If you live outside New York and don't have the MLB out-of-market pay per view packages, you may not be familiar with Kevin Burkhardt. He's been the on-field reporter for SNY on New York Mets broadcasts for the last seven seasons, Burkhardt has also filled-in for Mets TV voice Gary Cohen in calling games. In addition to his Mets work, Burkhardt has hosted various studio shows for SNY after being an anchor and host for New York's WFAN.
He has experience calling NFL games as he's the national voice for Dallas Cowboys games on Compass Media Networks
His work is well-liked by his SNY bosses and he's now getfing the attention of Fox which has used him on a few national Saturday Baseball telecasts. After an indication from Newsday's Neil Best that Fox was interested, Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch confirms that Burkhardt will be teamed with John Lynch and Erin Andrews will work some games with them from the sidelines. If you're famliar with the Fox roster, Burkhardt would replace Dick Stockton who has worked with Lynch for the past couple of seasons.
It's no secret that Fox's NFL play by play depth falls short of CBS. Burkhardt would certainly bring a new element to their roster and some fresh blood to the NFL announcing scene with the Sunday television packages.
It's not known if Stockton is being dropped or if he will be teamed with a new partner at this time.
