Expect to see headlines like this all over the ESPN family of networks once again this summer. The New England Patriots signed Tim Tebow Monday, which is pretty much the Doomsday Scenario for the coming season. If you thought Bristol went overboard withTebowMania 2.0 and the Jets, just imagine what will happen when combined with Bill Belichick and the most high profile franchise in the sport. It's TebowMania 3.0 - Bigger, Longer, & Uncut (or maybe that was the South Park movie).
Nothing can be written on this subject that hasn't been written ad naseum already. Just replace "Jets" with "Patriots" and "Rex" with "Belichick" and you'll see the same tired headlines, the same tired debates, the same old song and dance that we've had to suffer through the last two and a half years. So instead of another "fresh take" wrapped in hot manure, here are some tweets mocking ESPN's reaction to the signing. As always, these are Real Tweets from Real People...
Nightclub. Rain machine. Gronk and Tebow both shirtless. ESPN and TMZ both lose their minds. #Patriots2013— Peyton's Head (@PeytonsHead) June 10, 2013
ESPN schedule rest of week: Tebow, Tebow, Could Tebow help the Heat, Heat, Would Tebow be a star in NHL, Heat, Tebow, MJ v Lebron, Tebow— Total MLS (@TotalMLS) June 10, 2013
Tebow to the Pats and Lebron in the finals is basically Viagra for ESPN.— Brett Anderson (@BrettAnderson49) June 10, 2013
"Only Tim Tebow makes the NFL in June the top story." -ESPN, making Tim Tebow the top story— Jack Kogod (@Unsilent) June 11, 2013
tim tebow just dwindled ESPN's coverage of the stanley cup finals from 60 seconds to a blurb on the ticker.— Jay (@TeamThirstTrap) June 11, 2013
Anyone heard anything about Tim Tebow going to the Patriots? I've been watching ESPN, and there's nothing, I mean, NOTHING about it.— Jerry Usher (@JerryUsher) June 11, 2013
I'm not the only person that upon hearing about the Tebow signing said, "Well, I won't be turning on @espn for the next week or ten" right?— RJ Roan (@rjroan) June 11, 2013
Best part of Tebow signing with Pats... Belichick will give ESPN zero to report which should limit them to 7 hours/day of Tebow coverage.— Lee Jatkevicius (@LeeJatkevicius) June 11, 2013
Do you think now that Tebow has joined the patriots ESPN will create a new channel or just rename Sportscenter after them?— Troy Rippe (@Rippe47) June 11, 2013
@espn could you guys talk more about Tebow please? I'm always so excited to hear more about this accomplished future hall of famer.— t james (@TheTJames1580) June 11, 2013
As long as they have their heads screwed on straight, this could be the greatest thing to ever happen to Fox Sports 1, seeing as how they can provide a real Tebow-free alternative to Sal Paolantonio staking out Pats camp. Time to see if ESPN listens to the warnings of their own president for TebowMania 3.0.
I really wish ESPN would get off his holy dick. Who are the people clamoring for Tebow news? Honestly?
I dunno... as much as you can say that Tebow drives ESPN, it also drives ESPN-hate... it's sorta like cops... if there were no crime, there'd be no need for cops... so cops are essentially rooting for crime... and ESPN haters are secretly rooting for ESPN to drop the ball on the Tebow-overdose again
if the Patriots make the playoffs it can be TebowMania 3.14... bahaha-uh-um, yeah, I was a nerd way before anyone else... :)
