Be honest, you never heard of Florida Gulf Coast University until Friday. But since then they've become the darlings of the NCAA Tournament. Not only did they get a win as a 15 seed, they throw down mesmerising dunks (even getting a nickname, Dunk City, in a record period of time), the coach's wife is a supermodel, and the school has its own beach. With all that, I wouldn't be surprised if they had their own golf course too. Here, TBS refers to FGCU as Florida "Golf" Coast University in two different spots. At least they sound the same. Besides, if it was truly Florida Golf Coast, then they'd really be the most awesome school left in the tourney.
@homersapien619 oh believe me! I noticed that during the game and immediately got on twitter to see how many other people did!! FAIL!
@awfulannouncing Not surprising, since they have a "golf management" major at FGCU per the NYT blog...
@awfulannouncing Not too surprising, since they have a "golf management" major at FGCU...
@awfulannouncing and Dan Patrick just called it Florida Gulf Coast Community College.
I watched Championship Week..was dismayed when they upset my pick in the Atlantic Sun Final. Posted in my blog that if a 15 seed were to win, they might be the best one to do it. But otherwise didn't think much of it. So, I had heard of them before Friday
The only reason I heard of FGCU was when Duke played Miami. They talked about how Miami had a "bad loss" to FGCU. The only question I had at the time was what was FGCU. Now I know. Like Shawn said, fun to watch. By the way, the "bad loss" doesn't look that now, does it?
@awfulannouncing then you misspelled "the" in the article smh
@homersapien619 I lived on Florida's "Gulf Coast" for long enough to notice!
@homersapien619 apparently depends if you're a sports producer for March Madness!
@KristyWolski Gulf Coast or Golf Coast?
