The best of Gus Johnson from the Big Ten Tournament

Written by Matt Yoder on .

Yesterday was our last chance to hear Gus Johnson call a college basketball game until next season with the Big Ten quarterfinals.  While Ohio State's blowout of Nebraska didn't give us any memorable moments, MSU-Iowa had its share of highlights.  Take this monster dunk from Sparty's Ketih Appling, which produces a noise from Gus like we haven't heard since Brandon Stokley.  WHAT!?!

And just in case you need more, BTN put together a best of Gus from yesterday's action so we can properly bid adieu to his return to the hardwood.  My favorite is definitely the "BILL RUSSELL" shoutout...

Alas, it's back to the beautiful game for Gus Johnson and calling corner kicks instead of corner threes and crosses into the box instead of crossovers.

You should rename this site gusjohnson.com. I've never seen so much love for a one-trick pony whose schtick is so tired. Screaming at the top of your lungs for 40 minutes is not enthusiasm, it's screaming to get attention for yourself. It's not a skill, it's a schtick. I'm glad he'll be the voice of soccer because I don't watch soccer.

@ChrisVannini and we were denied a lot of Gus this season due to his whole "soccer apprenticeship"

@mherek Wouldn't have been in the tournament, anyway. That's where his loss hurts the most.

@ChrisVannini Gus should have an audio subscription service where he calls games. Just him on a google hangout watching tv.
