How awesome are Green Bay Packers fans? Awesome enough to have their own reality show on cable. TBS announced at its Upfront in New York this week that it is developing an unscripted program featuring cheeseheads that will -- fittingly -- be called "Cheeseheads."
Word actually emerged last December that Packers fans were auditioning for a reality pilot, and now we have more clarity on that. And it's pretty legit. Helping develop the series is Jason Carbone, who according to CNBC has produced reality programs such as The Real World and The Bachelor.
Green Bay, Wis., is home to the World Famous Green Bay Packers and their fans: The Cheeseheads. These citizens don't just bleed green and gold; they eat victory for breakfast. For them, being a Cheesehead is more than just being a fan. It's a way of life.
This show will take viewers into the hilarious subculture through the eyes of a group of proud Wisconsinites as they navigate life in the only way they know how – loud, proud and with lots of beer. For these folks, there is no off-season.
Packers fans quite literally own their team and are incredibly passionate. That team has the most unique fan base in sports, so this could make for great TV.
I'm already humiliated by this. This will be garbage tv. They will pick the biggest rednecks (which ill admit the city of Green Bay is full of) and the country will laugh thinking they represent the entire fanbase. I hope the packers do everything in their power to take this off the air.
