When I heard that Selena Roberts had posted yet another article about Alex Rodriguez, I rolled my eyes and didn't think anything of it. After all, Roberts has been on the Rodriguez hate wagon for years now.

But there was something buried in the article that I didn't even notice until it was pointed out by Craig Calcaterra of Hardball Talk – Roberts linked to an article Calcaterra wrote a year ago trashing her premise about Rodriguez being a slumlord, and also linked to an article from Kevin Kaduk of Big League Stew calling the slumlord accusations "a pretty large leap" to support her own theory.

This is interesting. She's citing herself as the "people calling Rodriguez a slumlord in headlines". The headlines that paint Rodriguez as a slumlord all come from Roberts' initial story. It would almost be similar if Thayer Evans and George Dohrmann linked to some of the numerous Deadspin articles trashing their Oklahoma State story as evidence that "people are talking about the Oklahoma State program being dirty!"

Yes, people are talking about it – and calling your reporting into question in the same breath. Coming up with a stupid premise and then linking to people destroying that stupid premise doesn't make it any more viable.
