I know I say this like every other week, but THIS may be my favorite clip of the year. In the second leg of their World Cup Qualifying tie, Sweden and Portugal played an incredible game with Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic doing their best to create the soccer version of the legendary Larry Bird-Dominique Wilkins dual.
Portugal had a 1-0 lead entering the game thanks to a Ronaldo goal from the first leg. In the second leg, Ronaldo scored first. Then Ibra scored 2 goals to bring Sweden back into the tie at 2-2 on aggregate. Finally, Ronaldo scored twice more in 3 minutes for an incredible that sent Portugal to Brazil next year. The call of Ronaldo's hat trick from Antena 1's Nuno Matos in Portugal is amazing.
Music, lasers, ecstatic celebrations, it doesn't get any better than this. Obrigado Cristiano, indeed.
Muito obrigado, fútbol Portugeis! Announcer sounds like a pentecostal devotée at the peak of bliss babbling in tongues while on PCP. Lol
When Sweden scored the 2nd goal..Portugal still led 3-2 on aggregate because the away goal counts as 2. Just an FYI. It wasnt tied after Swedens second goal but it sure made things tense until Ronaldo relieved that pressure with his second and then just adding the cherry on top with his 3th.
@freddyxm More like 2.5 to 2. If they were tied on aggregate, Portugal goes through on away goals. But another Sweden goal would have have made it 3-2 aggregate, so no need to consider away goals.
