You can now add "Doesn't play nicely with the microphone of others" to Bud Selig's glittering legacy as MLB commissioner. During the postgame ceremony after last night's Red Sox victory over the Cardinals to clinch the World Series, Uncle Bud joined Erin Andrews for the trophy presentation. And he wanted her microphone all to himself. Why? Probably because it was in the best interests of baseball. Or maybe she made him mad by calling him "Allan."
Here in this first shot Bud tries to take the mic to launch some kind of soliloquy, but EA holds firm:
And then the two have another microphone fight. This time, Selig finally wins the battle and the look on Andrews' face is one of priceless bemusement...
Is that really a gentlemanly way to handle the postgame interview? If the Cardinals weren't too busy mourning their World Series defeat, I'm sure they'd complain about Uncle Bud not acting in The Cardinal Way.TM
Like her or not, EA is a professional broadcaster and broadcasters are taught that if you give up the mic, you lose control of the situation. She was doing her job. Selig has been around enough professional broadcasters to know this. His actions only make him look bad, not her.
This was the second year Ms Andrews has done the presentation & our family thinks she did a wonderful job! Never found her smug or full of her self as she is down to earth&even will laugh at her mistakes.(Even if she makes the correction in middle of sentence)She was doing her job as the interviewer isn't suppose to give the microphone to the person being interviewed. Also she had been told not to give up the mic by her boss! Seems that those who think she is a disaster are the people who can't stand her in the first place. There are people that think she did a great job through out the series and doesn't deserve to be treated like she is AWFUL! Her interviews are great when she gets to talk to them like they are a friend & that takes talent. Red Soxs fans turned on her yet she was raised a Soxs fan & deserved to enjoy the win! Oh BTW she does know Baseball & other sports too even though through out this series people were saying women don't belong reporting sports plus she didn't ask the right questions. Yet later would see sports reports where men were asking the same question & no one was saying they were asking the wrong question! She also has 2 sports Emmys so guess she does know what she is doing when reporting on sports. Though I do not know Ms Andrews I have watched her for years proving her self in her world of sports And no one deserves to be treated like public enemy number one!
Erin Andrews is a complete disaster. I am so over her smug attitude; she has a wildly inflated sense of her importance.
I usually am not that critical of announcers but I never liked Erin Andrews at ESPN and I really wish she wasn't on Fox last night.
Andrews was awful (as usual).. Why the hell was she mc'ing the trophy presentation? And her interview with the old guy during the game was an embarrassment
