Because a lot of the attention paid to college basketball season is centered around conference play in January and March Madness, it may feel like college hoops season is a ways away. Not so, as Fox's college basketball slate on Fox Sports 1 debuts in just 24 days, on Nov. 8. That night, both FS1 and Fox Sports 2 will air games from the Big East conference, leading off a loaded schedule of games from the "revived" Big East, as well as the Big 12 and Pac-12.

While it was long ago announced that Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery will form the network's lead broadcast team, there are still a few chairs left unfilled on the network's deck. Fox took care of one seat today, naming former NBA forward Austin Croshere, a Providence College grad, their college basketball studio analyst.

Croshere will contribute to halftime and between games segments. Also, in a note of interest to us who love to pit ESPN and Fox against one another, he'll be apart of Fox College Hoops Tipoff. That will be the college basketball pregame show FS1 airs from January all the way through March. ESPN, of course, has a similar program (the basketball edition of College Gameday) in a similar timeframe.

Croshere was drafted by the Pacers out of Providence in 1997 and spent nine seasons with the team, including playing in the 2000 NBA Finals. Since his retirement, he's worked with Fox Sports Indiana as an analyst for Pacers games, doing both studio and booth work. He will appear on FS1 and FS2 as part of his new arrangement.
