If one Walton can become a famous name in sports broadcasting, why not two? The Los Angeles Lakers and its TV partner, Time Warner Cable SportsNet, have announced that former forward Luke Walton will be joining its studio for pre and postgame coverage as well as making appearances on other Laker-centric programming on the network.
Walton makes his debut on TWCSN this week and joins his dad, Bill in becoming an analyst. Now, it will take a while before Luke can be like his dad in being a verbal acid trip on the air, but these things take time. It took a while before Bill became the lovable courtside character on NBA and Pac-12 broadcasts.
In joining Time Warner Cable, Walton is quoted as saying, "I am excited to be joining the Time Warner Cable SportsNet team." He joins former coach Byron Scott as well as current analysts James Worthy and Robert Horry on the set.
Maybe down the line, Luke and Bill will team up in the booth. According to his wife, Lori, Bill will return to call Pac-12 games and perhaps some NBA games for ESPN so it looks like we'll get more gems from Big Red in 2013-14.
@AndrewCfran Did I ever tell you that Bill Walton does SAC games every now & again? It would be amazing if Bill & Luke did a SAC vs LAL game
@richarddeitsch I never really cared for his announcing before but if you recommend him I'll give him a second chance.
