Vin Scully is a national treasure. And thankfully, he's calling some innings for the radio telecasts for Dodgers playoff games. Even better, MLB has made some of the audio available for our enjoyment. Here Scully calls LA's 8th inning comeback, including Juan Uribe's home run and the final out. He even gets in a joke at the expense of the Diamondbacks and the ridiculous PoolGate fiasco.
If you're looking for someone to root for this postseason, it might be worth pulling for the Dodgers just so Vin Scully can announce one more World Series at 85.
UPDATE: And, in a great piece of history, MLB has posted this audio and video of Scully from 57 years ago when he called Don Larsen's perfect game in the World Series.
For Fox Baseball to improve T.V ratings, it would be awesome and a privilege for fans to allow Vin Scully to call this years World Series and have Joe Buck and his commentator take a back seat. In the past Mr. Scully has hinted at retirement. It would therefore be a class act for Fox to give this man the Mike.
In every stadium this year teams have honored Mariano Rivera for his service to baseball it would give goose bumps to have a curtain call form the great Vin Sully.
Even if the Dodgers don't advance to the world seriesI and many others would tune in to watch!
Future Artificial Intelligences (AIs) should be programmed to BE Vince Scully, so we can have that announcing magic forever on all sporting events -- and in the office, the airport, the grocery store... at least until it becomes sentient and takes over the planet... which is fine, 'cause the play-by-play planetary upheaval would be glorious.
AA, isn't it great to see an announcer @Razor5Hole tweet about one of your articles?
