WFSB in Hartford, CT is reporting that former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end and former ESPN NFL analyst Hugh Douglas has been arrested in Hartford for allegedly attacking a woman at a hotel. Douglas has been charged with third degree assault and second degree strangulation. Douglas was arraigned in Hartford Superior Court Tuesday for what police say was a fight with a woman at a Marriott Hotel.

Court papers state Douglas grabbed the woman by the neck and slammed her into the wall several times. Douglas told police that the victim's injuries occured during "rough sex."

Douglas had an NFL career that spanned ten years and included stints with the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles. He joined ESPN in 2011 and was a contributor to "Numbers Never Lie" but was fired after getting into a fight with host Michael Smith.

There is no reference to the arrest or court appearance on Douglas' Twitter account, although he was apparently watching MARVEL's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this evening.

Awful Announcing will have more details as they become available.
