Remember on Friday, when we brought you the news just before the end of the work day that Craig James had been hired as a studio analyst for Fox Sports Southwest? Well, never mind. According to a report from Sports Illustrated, James' tenure with Fox Sports Southwest lasted somewhere around 48 hours and included a whopping one appearance on the network.

Richard Deitsch of SI claims that executives at Fox Sports weren't happy with the hiring, his hire wasn't fully vetted, and there hadn't been a formal agreement yet. A spokesperson for Fox Sports very succinctly summed up James' all-too-brief tenure with the regional affiliate with this comment: ""Craig James will not be making any further appearances on Fox Sports Southwest's football coverage this season."

This hiring was doomed from the start, and it's good that Fox got things taken care of sooner rather than later. Among the things that lasted longer then James' tenure with Fox Sports Southwest are Britney Spears' first marriage, multiple David Blaine stunts, the 2012 Daytona 500 (from the qualifying at the Gatorade Duels to the completion of the race itself), and the entire Gareth Bale transfer saga.
