Jim Parsons hosted Saturday Night Live and broke out his Johnny Weir impression for the cold open. However, in the general scheme of SNL being so hit and miss these days, this was a giant miss.

They could have done so much more with Weir and could have, and SHOULD have, had someone join him as Tara Lipinski since those two came as a package in Sochi – before, during and after. Parsons joked that he had Tara in his pocket (what?) and that was the only mention she got. Also, the skit is over five and a half minutes long, but "Weir" doesn't come out until almost three and a half minutes in, so we're subjected to many, many dumb jokes, then Parsons comes out and everything just falls flat.

I love Jim Parsons and I love Johnny Weir. Jim Parsons AS Johnny Weir, though, is another story altogether.
