Before today's Red Sox game in their first game back in Boston, David Ortiz unleashed a raw, emotional, awesome speech thanking the Boston police department and fans.  He ended by saying "This is our f*cking city!" and encouraging a packed Fenway Park to stay strong.  I think this is one time few people are going to complain about letting that get through the network censors.

The Boston Red Sox return home today for their first game in Boston since the marathon bombings and manhunt for Dzhokar Tsarnaev came to a triumphant conclusion Friday night.  The city of Boston returns to life after being shut down for the length of the day Friday after Thursday night's shootout and subsequent hunt for the younger brother.  Both the Red Sox and Bruins were supposed to play last night, but those games were postponed until this afternoon.

MLB Network will air the Red Sox-Royals game from Fenway Park at 1:00 PM ET in what is sure to be an emotional scene that will parallel Wednesday night's Bruins-Sabres game.  In addition, both MLB Network and ESPN will have live pregame coverage from Fenway.  ESPN will have coverage anchored by Jeremy Schapp while Greg Amsinger anchors MLB Network's coverage.

NHL Network will also provide national coverage of today's Penguins-Bruins game at 12:30 PM ET.

If you've ever wondered what it's like to see how the world outside the US views American sports, Sky Sports in the UK offers pretty consistent coverage of the NFL and other professional leagues.  I know because I have the site bookmarked for my EPL and darts coverage.  However, this headline went awry earlier this week when they mixed up their Kansas City sports teams.  Although, in fairness, the Chiefs might have just as good of a shot masquerading as the Royals than they would masquerading as an NFL team.

The 2013 NFL schedule has been released, complete with 48 primetime games and 51 nationally-televised games. One more Week 17 game will be added to the prime-time slate when NBC gets its final Sunday flex, and there's a chance the final six Sunday Night Football games on the current sked change on the fly as a result of flex scheduling. In the meantime, though, here's how we rank the 48 primetime options we currently have to work with...

The "Ask Me Anything" threads on Reddit are a pretty good example of modern social media providing access to celebrities that wouldn't have been possible just a few years ago. Sometimes they're informative, sometimes they're funny.

Sometimes, they're just plain weird, like Jose Canseco's AMA today.

Of course, if you're familiar with Canseco's work on Twitter, that probably doesn't come as a surprise to you. His AMA was much like his Twitter feed -- bizarre, not always safe for work yet oddly entertaining. There were even some reasonably coherent responses, like when he was asked if taking steroids during his career was worth it:

ESPN college football analyst Mark May sure loves to spout off opinions on Twitter. Last week he drew widespread attention for a pair of tweets going after Ohio State and Arizona State. Before that he called former colleague Doug Gottlieb a "JACKWAGON" and may have inspired ESPN's latest social media memo.  He even threw a barb at Bill Simmons as well.

When you dig through Mark May's tweets, you realize why ESPN has to send panicked, crochety social media memos.  Mark May's Twitter account is like a bad parody account, except it's real and it's spectacular.  He checks every box that would keep ESPN up at night considering he has a platform to say anything at anytime.

Ryan Lochte is making the rounds to promote his awful reality show "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?"  He appeared on Good Day Philadelphia with Mike Jerrick and Sheinelle Jones.  The interview is an absolute trainwreck with the anchors interviewing Lochte like he has the mind of a 7 year old and barely being able to get their questions out and Lochte seemingly oblivious to what's happening.  Right after the interview was over, the anchors break out in hysterical laughter over the Lochte interview and how the show is going to find material, openly mocking their interview subject.

I know Ryan Lochte's not the sharpest guy around and his reality show is going to be somewhere between T. Ocho bad and Pete Rose bad... but why would you have him on and not even attempt to complete a somewhat professional interview with him?  This is why you should never watch morning news television.

Notre Dame home football games will continue to air on NBC for the next decade and more. The school and the network announced a ten year extension to their current contract, which expired after the 2015 season, that will keep the games on NBC until 2025.

The NFL released its 2013 schedule on Thursday night with a completely over the top presentation on multiple networks and football analysts attempting to provide insights into how the season will play out before anything about the 2013 season can actually be analyzed.  America is truly a football obsessed nation.  If you're anything like me, you've already speculated about how the schedule looks around your team's short week and the stretch of games that look like a sure winning streak.

Below is a week by week guide to the nationally televised games for NBC, NFL Network, CBS, Fox, and ESPN.  National doubleheader windows are included along with the primetime games throughout the week (although those games aren't necessarily set in stone, the networks listed will have the national game in those weeks).  There are Thursday night games from Weeks 1-15, Monday night games in Weeks 1-16, and flexible scheduling begins in Week 11.  Bon appetite!
