Will Ferrell is pulling out all the stops to promote Anchorman 2. First, the never-ending train of SportsCenter guest hosts will continue next Thursday, December 5th, when Ron Burgundy will slide into the anchor chair according to a report from The Big Lead.
While the episodes of SportsCenter guest hosted by Ken Jeong and Jimmie Johnson in recent months have earned our critical scorn, the episodes delivered big ratings for ESPN. Jeong's episode saw viewership jump by 25%, while Johnson's episode saw a viewership rise of 22%.
Ferrell is a bigger star than either Jeong or Johnson, and with Anchorman 2 coming out two weeks after his guest hosting appearance, a significant spike in ratings is expected. Earlier that day, Ferrell will be sitting in with The Dan Patrick Show fully in character as Burgundy on the popular nationally syndicated radio show.
But wait, there's more. Ron Burgundy will also make an appearance this Sunday for TSN during the network's curling coverage and the Roar for the Rings.
That's right, Ron Burgundy doing curling. That has the potential to be the best... or worst thing we've seen this year. It'll certainly be unique.
At this point, we may see more of Ron Burgundy over the next month than we saw of Tim Tebow during the heights of TebowMania
